As a lifelong resident of Cranston’s Ward 1, a mother, and an active member of this community, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges we face and how action-oriented leaders can make change. I’m running for City Council because I believe am the right voice for working families in Edgewood, Pawtuxet Village, Park View, and the Friendly Community.
A Lifelong Connection to Ward 1
Ward 1 has always been home to me. I’ve spent most of my life here, attending our local schools, raising my family, and building relationships with so many of you. This community isn’t just where I live—it’s where I’ve chosen to invest my time and energy, from serving as PTO Co-President at Edgewood Highland Elementary to volunteering with Cranston East Little League. These roles have allowed me to understand the needs of our families, our schools, and our children.
Why Now?
Now, more than ever, I believe that we need leaders who are not only committed to our community but are also willing to listen and take action. We are at a pivotal moment in Cranston. As we continue to grow and evolve, we must ensure that our schools, infrastructure, and public services keep pace with the needs of our residents. We need an advocate for common-sense solutions, balanced budgets, and smart development that protects the character of our neighborhoods.
I’ve spoken with many of you—my neighbors, walking the ward, small business owners, and community leaders. You’ve told me about your concerns: the condition of our roads, rising property taxes, overcrowded classrooms, and the need for more parks and recreational spaces for our children. These are not just isolated issues; they impact our daily lives, and we need thoughtful, transparent leadership to address them.
A Vision for Our Future
My vision for Cranston is rooted in collaboration. I believe that by working together—residents, businesses, and local government—we can build a stronger, more vibrant community. As your councilwoman, I will:
- Advocate for Stronger Schools: Every child in Cranston deserves access to quality education. I will work to ensure that our schools are properly funded and that teachers have the resources they need to succeed in the classroom.
- Environmental Action: The Narragansett Bay and Pawtuxet River are key natural resources that are part of our ward. It’s important that we ensure their protection, and at the same time invest in the maintenance and improvement of our infrastructure to ensure we are prepared for naturally occuring events, and mitigate flooding throughout the city.
- Safe Streets: I’m sick of hearing about speeding. I want to work directly with local law enforcement and identify ways to leverage planning to help slow down our streets!
- Foster Community Engagement: It’s crucial that our local government reflects the voices and values of all residents. I will be accessible, and open to your ideas, to ensure I’m representing the needs of the ward.
Together, We Can Make a Difference
Running for office is not a decision I take lightly, but it’s one I make with confidence. I’m ready to bring new energy, new ideas, and a fresh perspective to the City Council. Together, we can tackle the challenges we face and build a future we can all be proud of.
I’m asking for your support in this journey. Let’s work together to make Cranston the best it can be—for our families, for our children, and for generations to come.
Thank you,
Bridget Graziano
