By Bridget Graziano

For the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as the Conservation Agent for the multiple towns in Massachusetts, most recently Medway. As a wetland scientist, my work has focused on preserving and protecting natural resources, ensuring that the ecosystems we rely on remain healthy and sustainable for future generations. This experience has not only shaped my professional career but has deepened my commitment to conservation and responsible land use—values I bring with me as I seek to represent Ward 1 on Cranston’s City Council.

Understanding Our Natural Environment

My role as a wetland scientist has given me a unique perspective on the importance of maintaining a balance between development and environmental stewardship. Wetlands are incredibly valuable ecosystems that provide essential services, from flood control and water filtration to supporting biodiversity. Over the years, I’ve worked to ensure that development projects in Medway respect these sensitive areas, helping landowners navigate complex regulations while preserving the natural beauty and functionality of the land.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my job has been the opportunity to collaborate with residents, town officials, and environmental organizations to find solutions that benefit both the community and the environment. Whether it’s guiding a homeowner through the permitting process or working with developers to design projects that minimize environmental impact, I’ve seen firsthand how thoughtful planning and collaboration can lead to positive outcomes for all parties involved.

Protecting What Matters Most

In my role as Conservation Agent, I’ve overseen countless projects aimed at protecting wetlands, rivers, and open spaces. This work has been about more than just enforcing regulations—it’s been about educating the public on the importance of these ecosystems and why we must safeguard them. Many people don’t realize the crucial role wetlands play in protecting against flooding, improving water quality, and providing habitats for wildlife. Through my work, I’ve been able to raise awareness and foster a greater sense of responsibility within the community to protect these vital resources.

I’ve also had the opportunity to develop long-term conservation plans for Medway, ensuring that our town’s natural resources are protected for years to come. From land preservation initiatives to managing stormwater and restoring native habitats, my work has focused on creating a sustainable future—one where development and nature can coexist harmoniously.

Bringing Environmental Expertise to Cranston

As I think about my candidacy for City Council in Cranston, I’m excited to bring my experience as a wetland scientist and conservation agent to the table. Our city is growing, and with growth comes the responsibility to ensure that we protect our environment while supporting development that benefits our community. I believe my background uniquely positions me to address the environmental challenges we face in Cranston, from managing stormwater runoff and preserving green spaces to ensuring that our infrastructure is resilient in the face of climate change.

I will advocate for sustainable development practices that respect our environment, and I will work to ensure that Cranston’s growth does not come at the expense of the natural beauty that makes our city such a special place to live.

A Commitment to Conservation

For 15 years, I’ve dedicated my career to protecting the environment, and that commitment remains just as strong today. I’m running for City Council because I believe that we can create a better, more sustainable future for Cranston—one that honors our natural resources, supports responsible development, and enhances the quality of life for all residents.
